Profile: In a nutshell
I have a passionate interest in the creative arts and particularly the film industry. My mother was a well-known make-up artist in the commercial film industry in Johannesburg and my grandfather was Creative Director of several international advertising agencies, before moving into the commercial film business as a director.
I attended the National School of Arts in Johannesburg, and graduated with some distinction.
After school, I worked for a casting agency in Cape Town, where I gained invaluable experience in the film business.
After moving to the UK in September last year, I worked briefly as a caregiver (just staying afloat), spent a week at MGV and was awarded my current position as front of house/production assistant/runner At The Bare Film Company, ahead of over 70 other applicants!
Unfortunately the company is restructuring and the ‘last in first out’ principle has resulted in me being retrenched.
I am an enthusiastic and committed person, producing a high standard of work. I am a fast learner and can take charge when the situation requires it. I am original, energetic, fun and friendly,
But always remain professional.
I am willing to start at the bottom and work my way up should the right opportunity present itself.

Profile:
I have graduated from the University of Glamorgan with a Second Class Honours Degree in Film, Television and Radio.
Whilst at the University of Glamorgan I gained skills in scriptwriting, directing, editing on Final Cut Pro, and using Sony Z1 cameras and studio cameras. I also gained skills in lighting and sound and skills within a TV and radio studio. I made a ten minute film for my final film project called Annette which I wrote, acted in, directed and edited. Within a group I also made a live 20 minute TV show called Extravaganza where I was part of set design and camera operation.
The University had a scheme of getting students into a filming environment. The project was for four teams to make ten minute films in one location. They hired Treowen house, a location that has been used to film television programmes. My role was the 1st Assistant Director and Editor for one of the projects. As all teams wanted to use the best location within the house I had to use my negotiating skills to gain the best for my team. My knowledge of Final Cut Pro was useful in achieving the final product.
I also signed up to Skillset Screen Academy Wales. Through Skillset I had a day’s course in film health and safety which lead to a role in their Summer Film Lab 2007. This was a project making a ten minute film along side professionals. I was credited as the Production Assistant and Runner. The film was nominated for best short at the Swansea Film Festival 2007. My next role was for two ten minute films for The ITV Wales ‘It’s My Shout’ project. The films were broadcast in the local area shortly after the shoot. I was credited as the 3rd Assistant Director of both films. This was the shoot where I learnt the most as I realised how quickly things are filmed and how hard everyone works to make sure that the shoot runs smoothly.
My next step is to find a job that will help me gain experience to help get a foot in the door of the industry. I have great people skills and sense of humour.
